Transferable Skills, Professional & Career Development Testimonies By Staff
Wolfgang teams work with military precision, utilising the intelligence, skills, and effective communication
I worked for Wolfgang for the final two years of my studies at University. I can honestly say, that the lessons learnt and the skills acquired during this time have been instrumental in both my development as a person and the advancement of my career.
Upon entering the Wolfgang family, the sense of brotherhood is clear immediately. You become part of a community of impressive individuals who will be there for you regardless of the situations you face. In my two years, I made some of the closest friends. The thing I will miss most is the monthly gatherings at ‘at all you can eat’ restaurants.
At Wolfgang, I was introduced to the concept of true professionalism. Facilitated by Stuart, Wolfgang teams work with military precision, utilising the intelligence, skills, and effective communication to handle any high-pressure situation.
During my time at the company, I learnt from the best. These are guys with serious Martial Arts and combat experience, willing to impart their wisdom to the new members of the team. Our restraint training sessions were some of the most enjoyable, and painful experiences of my life.
In addition, the development of ‘soft skills’ within the team was second to none. The ability to manage people, defuse situations, and assess/understand your surroundings was taught with the intricate detail of a University course. However, the real-life application and development of these skills in testing situations were something that no degree could provide.
I now live in Sydney Australia working for one of the ‘Big Four’ accounting firms in Wealth Management. I feel my time at Wolfgang has provided me with an extra edge in life. The experience has bestowed on me with the confidence to thrive in high-pressure situations and the skill and knowledge to overcome any challenge presented to me.
Thank you to Stuart and all the boys at Wolfgang who made the experience such an amazing one.
“Soft skills”, team building, client management, professionalism and a positive company culture
I worked at Wolfgang through my University years at Canterbury and learnt more from Stuart about “soft skills”, team building, client management, professionalism and a positive company culture by the time I graduated than from my professional degree. My time at Wolfgang was invaluable to my development and the leadership skills that I honed as a team leader in charge of my own venue, team and client relationship.
As a graduate looking for employment, I was shortlisted by many companies owing to my team leadership experience and in an interview for a multi-national FMCG looking for potential leaders. I was asked to provide an example of what my beliefs were regarding good leadership. My example was almost entirely made up of my personal experiences learning from Stuart and his trainers. I was pleasantly surprised by the interviewer’s response that they had other grads talking about Steve Jobs and Gandhi. They were happy to have someone who had a concrete and balanced answer which matched their ethos and culture from a real-world perspective.

Needless to say, I secured that role and almost 4 years on, I’m a project manager and happily still attribute my professional success to the early learnings I had as a part of a professional, positive and supportive team environment. I will always remember a training session where we trained extensively on our physical skills but we finished the day with more communication and situational training where we were told – “If you had to intervene, then you’ve not done your job right and managed the situation before it came to intervention.”
That has been something I have kept with me and applied in all aspects of my personal and professional life – there is always the smarter way to manage your position in any situation. I would highly recommend Wolfgang to both clients and prospective staff alike, you will not be disappointed working with the best!
Lifetime experience, confidence to believe in myself, necessary training & the best in the business
Working with Wolfgang was a once in a lifetime experience. The company gave me immense confidence to believe in myself along with the necessary training that was required as part of the job.
Our team is one of the best in the business and we work not just as peers but as brothers on the job. The company has security guards with all sorts of experience such as the years of service, difference martial arts backgrounds and superb hospitality skills.
Stuart, Dee and all the senior members are top level professionals and can sort out any kind of security related issues for the venues. When you trust your security with Wolfgang, you know you are in safe hands.
Wolfgang professionalism is outstanding and a key point of difference
I worked for Wolfgang NZ while completing my Management and Marketing degree at the University of Canterbury (UC). During my time with Wolfgang, I was constantly supported by Stuart and the team, allowing me to develop skills that are transferable to any job in any industry.
Stuart took me under his wing, and although I was one of the newer team members, he entrusted me to take sole charge of a new premises owned by one of the country’s most iconic restaurant brands. In my final years at UC, Stuart promoted me to the position of being an Assistant Director of Operations. This was a critical turning point in my career.
This role equipped me with transferable skills set acquired through staff acquisition, shifts allocation, performance management, client interactions and business acquisition. It further allowed me to develop both personally and professionally, and ultimately helped me to gain employment with one of the world’s largest multinationals, Toyota.
Currently, I am a Management Graduate at Toyota New Zealand. A role I would not have been offered if it had not been for the skills I developed while with Wolfgang. The company’s professionalism is outstanding and a key point of difference. Wolfgang’s staff commitment and culture result in a positive environment, which is shown in their quality of services and clients satisfaction.
I will always be thankful to Stuart for his guidance and the opportunities he gave me. Working with Wolfgang was a pleasure, and I would highly recommend them as a supplier or an employer.
Develop valuable personal and professional skills
I had my first shift with Wolfgang when I was 18 years old, providing security services for hospitality venues. I knew very little about security or the hospitality industry and I had to quickly develop various skills including teamwork, decisiveness, professionalism, client management, time management and leadership.
Despite the steep learning challenge, Stuart and his team always provided me with the support I needed to grow personally and professionally. I was given the opportunities to make mistakes and to learn from them. This is particularly challenging in a fast-paced working environment that requires security management at hospitality venues. I’m grateful for the leadership skills acquired through Wolfgang. The provided supports, aid and tutelage by the team allowed me to make necessary errors that further strengthened me.
I worked with Wolfgang for 7 years, while I was completing my academic studies. This suited my time commitments well, and any leave requests were always accepted and accommodated for. I am now a Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and although I no longer work with Wolfgang, I have found that the skills I learnt during my time with them have been invaluable.
Stuart, in particular, has a wealth of knowledge and experience and is always willing to share with the rest of the team. I consider him a mentor and a friend. The professional opportunity that he provides, through Wolfgang, is worthwhile for anyone who wishes to be part of a hard-working team and also wishes to develop valuable personal and professional skills.
